A free plug-in to work on images in RAW formats in programs like Gimp.

If there is one type of image format that has dominated in recent times, it is RAW. The majority of modern digital reflex cameras include the possibility to take photos in RAW. The problem is that sometimes it doesn`t work with image viewers and editors, and you need a free plug-in: UFraw (Unidentified Flying Raw), which is needed in, for example, editors like Gimp. It also works without needing Gimp, but in any case you either need Gimp or Gimp Tool Kit (GTK+2).

UFraw offers interesting options like, for example, the chance to read the tonal curves in cameras like Nikon, a 100% zoom, the chance to slim down the images, access the EXIF data (the technical data of the photo at the moment of presing the shoot button), and works with cameras like Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung, Sony, Fuji, etc. UFraw can convert this data to JPEG and DNG. An essential tool for all those who want to work with RAW files.
